Homemade Margherita Pizza
A simple, classic pizza with tangy tomato sauce, melted cheese and fresh basil, made easy with a shop-bought base.

- pizza base (shop-bought or homemade)1
- passata3 tbsp
- garlic clove, crushed1
- dried oregano1/2 tsp
- mozzarella, torn125 g
- fresh basil leavesto serve
- olive oil1 tbsp

Preheat the oven to its highest setting (usually 240 to 250°C) and place a baking tray inside to heat up.

In a small bowl, mix the passata with the garlic, oregano and a pinch of salt.

Spread the passata mixture evenly over the pizza base, leaving a small border around the edge for the crust.

Scatter the torn mozzarella evenly over the top.

Carefully slide the pizza onto the hot baking tray using a flat spatula or by sliding it off a plate.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling and lightly browned in places.

Remove from the oven, drizzle with olive oil, and scatter with fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving.
